Nano Brows

Nano Brows are a newer style of eyebrow tattooing that uses a permanent makeup device (a more gentle version of a tattoo machine in the shape of a thick pen), and a very fine, single needle to implant pigment in the skin. Nano brows are a great option for all skin types, and especially those with little to no eyebrow hair.

Two sessions are needed, spaced 6-12 weeks apart. To maintain the shape and design, it is recommended to touch up your Nano Brows every 1-3 years.

How are Nano Brows Different than Microblading?

Microblading and Nano Brows have a similar look, but Nano Brows tend to look more like real hair.

Microblading uses a manual pen (without a motor) that scratches lines into the skin to create hair-like lines within the eyebrow. Nano Brows are done using a specialized tattoo machine (makes less noise and vibrates less than a traditional body art tattoo machine) and a very fine single needle to implant ink into the skin at a slow speed.

Nano brows offers the flexibility to cross lines and fill spaces, while Microblading strokes have to be kept further apart so they don’t blur together. Nano Brows are suitable for all skin types, whereas microblading is not recommended for those with oily skin. Microblading is still the better option for someone who has very light brow hair and wants a blonde hair-stroke tattoo, as the pigments for nano brows only go as light as a light brunette/dark blonde.

Which is more painful?

Microblading and Nano brows are about the same level of pain. If you are nervous about the pain, is not recommended that you schedule your appointment within 3 days before or after the start of your period.

Who is not a good candidate for Nano Brows?

If you have very light blonde hair and are looking for an extremely natural “hair-stroke” tattoo style, I would recommend booking a Microblading appointment instead of Nano Brows.

What happens at my 1 hour and 45 minute appointment appointment?

  • The first 45 minutes is the consultation. Sophie will work with you to design your custom eyebrow shape and stroke pattern based on your preferences, symmetry, and to highlight your natural features. After the perfect shape is created, we will choose a pigment match based on your skin tone and brow/hair color. Please bring photos of examples that are similar to the look you’re hoping for. If you wear brow pencil or products, please arrive with your brows filled in. If you do not normally fill in your brows, just come as you are!

  • After the consultation, we will do the first pass of the tattoo (5-10 min/brow), which lays down a very soft version of the tattoo. After the first pass, you will be numbed and as the appointment goes on, you will feel hardly anything! I do not use an initial numbing, because lidocaine based creams can change the texture of your skin and impact results.

  • Typically, 4-6 passes are done in a session to build up to the desired intensity. Each consecutive pass takes less time than the pass before.

  • At the end of the appointment: aftercare will be discussed, your touch up scheduled (6-12 weeks later), and the remaining payment will be taken.

* Touch ups are NOT included in the initial investment. Prices for touch ups are listed below and subject to change.
